The 34th Annual Conference of the American Water Works Association - Hawaii Section opened on Wednesday, April 30th, 2008 at the Pacific Beach Hotel Grand Ballroom - Makai. Hawaii Section Chair Elson Gushiken welcomed all attendees. Mr. Craig Woolard, Vice-President of the American Water Works Association, then spoke about about the importance of tap water.

Conference attendees were treated to a total of 41 different exhibitors in the Grand Ballroom - Mauka. Attendees who were interested in the Annual Pipe Tapping Contest boarded several buses to take the short trip to the Honolulu Board of Water Supply's Engineering Courtyard on South Beretania Street, and were treated to an exciting contest. After the event, everyone re-boarded the buses back to the hotel for the luncheon.
