Highlights of May 12 (Tues) and May 13 (Wed), 2009
Pre-Conference Workshop, Opening General Session, Exhibits, Luncheon
Sheraton Waikiki Hotel

The American Water Works Association - Hawaii Section 35th Annual Conference held a pre-conference workshop on Tuesday, May 12th, 2008 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. The workshop was entitled “Expanding your Knowledge of Distribution System & Treatment Plant Operations" and was put on by the Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC). The workshop was intended to expand operator understanding and knowledge of the daily operations of a water distribution system and a water treatment plant.

The 35th Annual Conference of the American Water Works Association - Hawaii Section opened on Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Hawaii Section Chair Woodie Muirhead provided the opening remarks, then Nilaksh Kothari, Immediate Past-President of the American Water Works Association spoke about how water stimulates the economy today and in the future.

A total of 50 exhibitors were set up in the Maui and Molokai rooms. Conference attendees were able to watch the exciting Annual Pipe Tapping Contest which was held in the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel Parking Garage.
